A truck driver is lucky to be alive after a dramatic crash in Upington on Friday morning saw a side tipper truck flip completely over and land on its roof.
In the aftermath video, which has since made rounds on social media, the massive vehicle can be seen lying upside down with its wheels in the air – a rare and shocking sight even for seasoned truckers.
According to early reports, the truck lost control under yet-to-be-confirmed circumstances. Miraculously, the driver walked away from the crash with no reported injuries. Details about what led to the crash are still sketchy, but mechanical failure or driver fatigue cannot be ruled out.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, and clean-up operations were underway by mid-morning. The accident caused traffic delays in the area as authorities worked to clear the overturned rig and ensure the road was safe.
