A side tipper truck driver was caught on camera dangerously overtaking two trucks on the N2 between Pongola and Piet Retief, blatantly ignoring double solid lines.
In the shocking video, recorded by a concerned motorist, the truck can be seen forcing its way into the opposite lane, disregarding road markings meant to prevent overtaking in that section.
The driver persists with the risky maneovre until he successfully passes both trucks, endangering himself and other road users.
Reckless driving like this is a serious issue along the N2 between Richards Bay and Ermelo.
However, truckers engaging in such behavior do so at their own peril, as many transporters operating on this route have taken it upon themselves to police reckless drivers.
It’s not uncommon for truckers to report dangerous driving to their employers, who then replace the driver on the spot.
