A truck driver has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after his side tipper truck veered off the N2 and crashed into two homes in Itshelejuba, outside Pongola, on Wednesday morning.
According to Best Radio 90.9, the driver lost control of the truck at a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the road. The runaway truck ploughed through one house before coming to a stop against a second home, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Miraculously, no fatalities were reported at the scene, but the driver sustained severe injuries and required urgent medical attention.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the exact cause remains unknown at this stage.
