Watch: Suspect dies in crash while fleeing, after robbing a business

A suspected business robber was instantly killed when he rammed his getaway car on another vehicle while fleeing from a scene where he robbed a business in Sidwell, Gqeberha (PE).

The fatal collision happened at the corners of Kempston and Neil Boss Roads in Sidwell on Friday afternoon.

It is alleged that at about 10h50, five suspects entered a retail shop at the corners of Kempston and Standford Roads and held the staff at gunpoint.

They demanded cash and an unknown amount of cash, a cellphone and stock to the estimated value of R5000 was taken.

During the robbery, a female cashier was shot in her leg. The suspects left in two vehicles, a white Honda Ballade and a silver Citroen.

During their getaway, the Honda Ballade collided into a red VW Caddy which in turn bumped into a truck.

The suspect who was driving the Honda Ballade died on the scene while another suspect was injured.

The other suspects fled the scene.
