A fatal crash occurred on the R61 between Mthatha and Ngcobo near Cicirha on Saturday.
According to witnesses, a minibus taxi left its lane and encroached onto the truck’s path, resulting in a head-on collision. The impact left both vehicles stuck together, with emergency services working to free the trapped occupants.
Unfortunately, the taxi driver was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver’s condition has not yet been confirmed.
Traffic authorities have urged motorists to approach the area with caution as recovery operations continue. Police have opened a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
