Three people have been killed and 14 others injured following a serious crash on the N2 between Heidelberg and Riversdale in the Western Cape on Tuesday morning.
According to Maxine Bezuidenhout, Western Cape Mobility Chief Director for Traffic Management, the collision occurred at approximately 10:00 and involved a minibus and a light motor vehicle.
“Tragically, three people have lost their lives, and a further 14 people have sustained injuries. Emergency services remain on scene, providing medical assistance and managing the incident,” said Bezuidenhout.
The N2 has been closed to traffic while emergency personnel attend to the scene and investigators begin their work.

Motorists travelling through the area are being diverted via the Slangrivier turn-off towards Heidelberg and should expect significant delays.
Authorities have urged road users to remain patient, comply with the instructions of traffic officials, and avoid the area where possible until the road is reopened.
The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed and will form part of an official investigation.
