Early morning motorists heading into Tshwane on the N1 South are in for major delays after a messy two-truck crash near the Stormvoël off-ramp forced a full road closure.
The crash happened in the early hours of Thursday between the R513 and M8 turn-offs when a truck transporting oranges smashed into the back of a stationary truck.
The force of the impact ripped open the trailer, spilling a massive load of oranges across all lanes.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and are currently busy with cleanup operations, but authorities have already warned that the N1 South will be a no-go zone for most of the morning peak hours.
The driver of the rear-ending truck, who somehow escaped with only minor injuries despite his truck being completely wrecked, is said to be in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding why the front truck was stationary in a high-speed zone are still under investigation.

Transport officials have asked road users to remain patient and cautious, as congestion is already building up from early morning.
If you’re heading out soon, check your traffic apps and brace yourself—this one’s going to test your patience.
