The N3 southbound at Town Hill in Pietermaritzburg was shut down for several hours following a truck accident that occurred late last night.
According to truckers who were at the scene, the incident happened around midnight. A truck heading towards Durban reportedly lost control and overturned, completely blocking all southbound lanes.
At the time of reporting, the condition of the truck driver was still unknown. However, emergency services and recovery teams were on the scene. Truckers at the location noted that recovery operations began around 5:10 am.

Motorists are being urged to approach the area with caution as the accident has caused a significant backlog of traffic.
