In a jaw-dropping twist of fate, a truck driver walked away unscathed after a freak accident on the N2 in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday, 17 July 2024.
The incident, captured on CCTV, showed the truck rear-ending another, leading to a dramatic detachment of the truck cab from its chassis.
The video, which has been making rounds online, shows the terrifying moment when the truck’s cab seemed crushed entirely.
But in an unbelievable turn of events, images from the crash scene reveal that the cab, with the driver still inside, had detached from the truck’s body and landed safely on its side on the road’s verge.

Miraculously, the driver sustained no injuries.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life,” said one of the first responders.
“It’s a miracle that the driver survived, let alone walked away from it.”
The cause of the crash is not known at this stage.
