Watch: Truck driver saved from drowning in sewage near Kimberley

Kimberley Search and Rescue team had to be called in to rescue a trucker who lost control of his truck and ended up in a pool of sewage next to R31 on Sunday morning.

The accident happened between Kimberley and Barkly West on the R31 around 07h00.

It is alleged that the truck driver lost control of the his Volvo truck pulling a side tipper interlink causing it to veer into the sewage pool next to the road.

A search and rescue operation was put into place to assist the 31-year-old driver.

He was successfully extracted from the truck without any injuries and the truck also removed from the sewage water and towed away.

The cause of the crash is not known.
