Two truck drivers ran for dear life after four men allegedly blocked their way and pounced on their trucks setting them alight on Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property following the incident which happened in Lichtenburg, North West.

North West police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, told SA Trucker that the truck drivers saw rocks on the road and four suspects running towards them.

“The first truck driver tried to stop to make a U-Turn but the truck jack-knifed and the truck behind him also,” Botma told said.

With the attackers fast approaching, the drivers then dumped the trucks and fleed the scene.

Allegedly these four suspects set the two trucks alight.

The drivers managed to escape and contacted the police.

“The police went to the scene, as well as the fire department.”

Botma says no arrests have been made and reiterates the motive is not linked to any protest action in the area.

The motive of the attack is not known at this stage. SA Trucker
