Roads in and around Brackenfell and Kraaifontein were temporarily closed after residents took to the streets in protest over gang violence.
Gaylin Cupido death
A six-year-old girl, Gaylin Cupido, died after being hit by a stray bullet last week sparking the protests.
As reported at the time, residents gathered outside the Blue Downs Magistrate Court where the alleged suspect briefly appeared.
Cupido succumbed to her injuries days after she was hit by a stray bullet in Scottsdene while walking with her mother.
It is alleged that gangsters opened fired during an electrical blackout in the neighbourhood.
The six-year-old was caught in the crossfire and rushed to a nearby medical facility where she succumbed to her injuries.
Her alleged killer was arrested within 24 hours.
Brackenfell and Kraaifontein road closures
Based on reports from residents shared online, the following roads have been closed due to the protests currently taking place in Kraaifontein and Brackenfell:
- Botfontein Rd closed between La Boheme St and Maroela Circle due to Kraaifontein protests

Motorists have also been advised to steer clear of the following areas:
- Belmont Park.
- Liquor store on Old Paarl Rd robbed
- Kraaifontein Diamond Liquor robbed
- Southern suburbs: Delft, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha — reports of smoke from burning tyres
- Two groups of rioters moving in the direction Brackenfell Industrial/Kraaifontein area, looting shops and businesses.
