A trucker found himself in a proper mess at Ambrose Park in Bayhead after attempting to move his rig, only to have the trailer axles drag on the ground because four tyres had been stolen from his trailer!
The scene was caught on video and shared with SA Trucker, showing just how bad the situation can get if you’re not alert.
Now there are two theories doing the rounds:
- The driver spotted the thieves and tried to make a run for it before more damage was done.
- He didn’t check his trailer before pulling off, possibly after a nap.
Either way, this incident highlights two big issues for truckers in the Bayhead area:
🚫 Tyre theft is out of hand, and
🚫 Moving without checking your truck can cause serious damage, not just to your rig but also to your pockets and pride.

Bayhead is a known hotspot for cable theft, robberies, and cargo theft, now it seems Ambrose Park is part of their playground, given the high number of truckers sleeping there.

Whether you’re coming in to rest or parking while offloading, do regular checks on your rig.
And if you hear or see anything dodgy, rather report it and wait for help than risk wrecking your trailer trying to escape.
