A truck driver has landed himself in serious trouble after a dashcam video exposed him plotting and stealing part of his own cargo , a load of mealies, with the help of accomplices travelling in his truck.
The incident, which unfolded on 4 May near Chiredzi in Zimbabwe, has now gone viral and has also exposed theft from another truck at the same spot.
The footage captures the trucker with three passengers in his cab, who turn out to be his accomplices in the theft.
On a quiet rural stretch, the suspect pulls over behind another truck from which other suspects are already stealing.
Several suspects can be seen offloading the mealies from his trailer into several bags.
In the video, the suspects operate quickly and confidently, suggesting this wasn’t their first rodeo.

The way the two trucks were coordinated has led many to believe this was a pre‑planned theft involving at least two company vehicles.
One of the accomplices was later apprehended, thanks to the clear dashcam footage that captured his face and movements.
When the driver was finally confronted by his company and later the authorities, he crumbled, apologising profusely and, according to witnesses, singing like a bird and naming others involved.
“He just broke down and started naming names like he was reading a script,” said a source who witnessed the arrest.
The driver is now facing cargo‑theft charges, and Zimbabwean authorities are working with the company to investigate just how deep this rabbit hole goes.
