The trucker who went viral on Wednesday after being caught on camera in a physical altercation with a clearing agent at the Beitbridge Border Post was involved in a crash just hours later, setting off wild rumours that juju may have played a role.
According to reports, the driver left Beitbridge shortly after the altercation, on Monday, and continued towards Bulawayo. When he later proceeded from Bulawayo to Hwange, the crash occurred. Witnesses say he had been following behind another truck on a muddy and slippery stretch of road when the leading vehicle suddenly lost traction and stopped in the middle of the highway.
The trucker brought his rig to a standstill right behind it. Moments later, the lead truck rolled backwards and smashed into his front end, leaving his vehicle badly damaged. Fortunately the driver was not injured.
The coincidence of the two events, the widely shared border-post fight and the collision soon after, has sparked all sorts of speculation online. Social media users have been trading theories, with some insisting it was just bad timing while others boldly suggest supernatural interference may have been at play.
