The N3 northbound freeway is obstructed at the R74 Colenso/Winterton interchange after four trucks collided and two of them caught fire.
SA Trucker received reports of the crash around 05h50 where it was reported that four trucks were involved in a multivehicle pile-up crash. The cause of the crash is not known.
Ladysmith Herald reported that one person was killed in the crash.
Authorities are on the scene recovering the trucks and clearing the road. N3 Toll Concession said that a contra-flow system had been introduced on the southbound lane to allow traffic passage.
Motorists can expect delays while travelling on the route. All services are on scene and updates will follow as they become available.
