A truck driver narrowly escaped drowning when he lost control of his vehicle veered off the N2 and plunged into the Knysna Lagoon earlier this morning, Wednesday, 20 November.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, has since been taken to the hospital.
The accident happened near the Knysna Bridge, with emergency services and recovery crews quickly arriving at the scene.
Video footage shared by the Knysna-Plett Herald shows the truck’s cab completely submerged underwater, making recovery efforts a challenging task.
In the video, recovery personnel are seen working tirelessly to secure the vehicle, using heavy-duty equipment to prevent it from sinking further.
The condition of the driver remains unknown at this stage.

Traffic flow along the N2 has been partially disrupted, with motorists advised to exercise caution and expect delays while recovery operations continue.
