One person was seriously injured when his car collided with a truck on the M7 highway just after the Hans Dettman offramp on Wednesday morning.
A witness told SA Trucker that when the two vehicles collided, the car rolled twice throwing the driver out in the process.
The car landed on its roof while the truck left the road and crashed onto the middle island.
After seeing the car on its roof and a patient lying on the roadway, the trucker is said to have jumped into his truck and forced it to come out where it was stuck and tried to flee but was blocked by other motorists.
A video of the trucker reversing the truck from the ditch has been circulating on social media.
The injured man was taken to the hospital.
Authorities attended the scene and will be investigating further.
