Watch: Truckers Battle Truck Fire While Driver Is Inside the Shop Unaware

Eish, sometimes the road gives you nightmares, but other times it reminds you that brotherhood on the highway is still alive and well. On Monday, at Estcourt Ultra City, a truck suddenly caught fire while the driver had stepped into the shop.

Flames started pushing out from the engine compartment and things could have gone south very fast.

But instead of whipping out their phones to film the chaos for social media likes, three truckers jumped into action. Sivuyile Poswa and two other drivers, who unfortunately didn’t get to catch each other’s names, spotted the smoke and sprinted over.

They couldn’t see the driver anywhere, but they noticed the fire extinguishers mounted behind the cab, grabbed them, and started battling the flames like soldiers.

They worked together, isolated the main power, and fought the blaze until it was completely out. By the time the driver returned, the disaster had already been avoided, and his rig was safe.

The poor oke was shaken, especially because he’s still new at his company. Imagine that stress, walking back with your cold drink and seeing your boss’s truck up in flames. It would’ve been tough to explain, especially with trust still being built. But thanks to these heroes, he didn’t have to face that nightmare.

Poswa said it best:
“How good it is that every trucker can have basic firefighting training. While others run away, some ask, how can we help?”

He added that it was a full team effort, even though they never got the chance to exchange names or numbers.

To the unknown brothers who stood with Poswa, wherever you are, the trucking industry salutes you. You saved a man’s career, a company’s asset, and reminded all of us what real road family looks like.

From SA Trucker, respect to you gents. Keep shining on those highways.
