KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services are at the scene of a severe collision between two trucks, including a petrol tanker, and at least one light motor vehicle on the N2 between Petroport and the Hluhluwe off-ramp.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert Mackenzie said that the petrol tanker collided with another truck and a car and burst into flames.

“Currently all vehicles are alight, firefighters and paramedics are on the scene, firefighters are trying to contain the fire which is burning out of control,” said Mckenzie.

He said that the number of casualties is not known.

The road is closed in the vicinity and traffic is being diverted to the alternative road via Bushlands.

The cause of the accident is also not known at this stage.
