Watch: Zim Cross-border Bus Hijacked, Passengers Robbed on the N1 in Limpopo

A cross-border bus travelling from Johannesburg to Zimbabwe was reportedly hijacked and robbed on the N1 highway on Wednesday night.

The bus belongs to Delta. According to witnesses, it was going to Bulawayo.

According to initial reports, the bus was ambushed by armed men while en route to the Beitbridge border. Passengers were allegedly forced to hand over their cash, cellphones, and other valuables.

Witnesses claim that two people were shot and killed during the attack, though authorities have not yet confirmed the fatalities. Several others are believed to have sustained injuries in the chaos that followed.

Videos and pictures from the scene have since gone viral on social media, showing the aftermath of the robbery and terrified passengers at the roadside.

Some of the images are graphic and have sparked outrage online, with many users calling for urgent action to protect cross-border travellers who regularly use the route.
