A Zambian truck driver was shot and killed in what is believed to be a road rage incident on South Coast Road in Rossburgh, Durban, on Friday morning.
According to truck drivers who witnessed the aftermath, the truck was allegedly travelling at high speed in the southbound lanes while being pursued by a light motor vehicle.
Witnesses claim that the car eventually overtook the truck, after which several shots were allegedly fired at the cab. The driver was struck by multiple gunshots and reportedly lost control of the truck, which then crashed into the rear of a fuel tanker that was parked on the side of the road.
Emergency services responded to the scene shortly before 9am.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics found SAPS officers and private security already on scene with the area cordoned off.

“Paramedics were shown to a male who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was assessed on the scene, however he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased.”
The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially released, but fellow truck drivers at the scene identified him as a Zambian national.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the motive has not yet been confirmed. The South African Police Service has launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
