Bread Truck Double Murder Suspect Arrested While Fleeing to Zimbabwe

A significant breakthrough has been made in the investigation of a double murder linked to a bread delivery truck robbery in Delft, Cape Town, as police have arrested a suspect identified as Martin Mungayi, a Zimbabwean national.

The incident, recorded under Delft CAS 352/05/2024, involved the robbery of a bread delivery truck during which a truck driver and his assistant were killed.

Authorities have been diligently pursuing leads, and their efforts have culminated in the apprehension of Mungayi.

Sources revealed that Mungayi was attempting to flee to Zimbabwe on a bus when he was intercepted.

The informer provided the police with crucial details, including the bus name, its location, and a photo of the suspect, leading to his arrest.

Further investigations have linked Mungayi to other criminal activities, including two robbery cases registered at Mfuleni police station.

According to the source, Mungayi is believed to be involved in several robbery cases across the Western Cape province.

A graphic video of the shooting went viral on social media, revealing the harrowing moments leading up to the murders.

In the video, three people can be seen sitting inside the truck counting money before assailants attack and rob the driver and his co-workers.

Despite the victims’ cooperation and handing over the money, the suspect shot the driver and his assistant and fled the scene.

The two victims were declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
