hazyview meat truck looting video

Even a lockdown was not able to keep Hazyview residents from ‘attending’ a scene where two trucks crashed. Especially because the scene had to be cleared of some meat which was ‘safely locked’ in one of the trucks involved.

A video of the community looting the truck on Friday morning, has emerged on social media.

According to a resident, the truck was forcefully opened for the people to loot the meat.

The cause of the crash is not known.

Spokesperson of the Mpumalanga department of community safety, security and liaison Moeti Mmusi condemned the behaviour, saying it compromises the lockdown regulations and road safety.

“As the department we condemn such behavior from our community because that on its own compromises the lockdown regulations in terms of curbing the spread of coronavirus because they caused a stampede when they all ran for the meat. Again it also compromises road safety because cars are being distracted and that also constitutes criminality because what they did was straight theft,” said Mmusi.
