MAN Gets The Boot As Mercedes Invades Manline Fleet

Manline is saying goodbye to MAN trucks and replacing them with Mercedes Benz trucks following its takeover by Bakers SA Limited.

It was just a matter of when it would happen as transport commentators unanimously agreed that Bakers SA Limited boss, Abdool Tayob, an avid fan of the Mercedes trucks, would change the Manline fleet to match Bakers.

In October last year, Bakers took delivery of 90 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645LS to bring its fleet to 740 trucks.

Bakers SA have enjoyed more than 40 years of partnership with Mercedes Benz having bought its first Mercedes-Benz Truck in the early 1970s.

An inside source at Manline told SA Trucker that Tayob had ordered that all the MAN trucks should be replaced before the 1st of April 2022.

The source said that the fleet change had already started in the earnest.

Well, as the saying goes, two bulls cannot rule in one kraal, the MAN had to create space for the Mercedes Benz.

Manline has maintained a fleet of MAN trucks from its inception but recently the company brought in the New Mercedes Benz Actros in its Energy division.
