One person was killed and another one critically injured in a single truck crash on the N3 Durban-bound carriageway at the Town Hill just before Pietermaritzburg on Saturday morning.
Midlands EMS crews were dispatched to the N3 south bound Town Hill just after 11:00 for a truck accident.
Upon arrival it was found that a truck was lying on its roof with both occupants severely entrapped.
Advanced life support paramedics worked to gain access to the patients.
Despite all efforts one of the trapped patients, believed to be the driver’s assistant, was declared deceased on the scene, and while the driver was in a critical condition.

Authorities attended the scene and will be investigating the cause of the accident.
