A truck driver burnt to death while his two workmates were seriously injured after their truck was petrol-bombed last night.
The driver was identified by Capricorn FM as 30-year-old Kagiso Mphelane.
According to Capricorn FM the truck driver and two assistants were sitting inside a truck belonging to Jane Furse Builder Supply in a village along Sekhukhune road when two unknown suspects threw is believed to be petrol bomb at the truck.
The motive for the attack is not known, It is, however, suspected that the incident could be linked to an ongoing strike by the drivers’ co-workers.
“The police in Sekhukhune are appealing to community members to provide information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects responsible for the torching of a truck and killing its driver yesterday afternoon at about 17:00,” Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.
Police have opened a case of murder, two counts of attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
