Cattle Truck Carrying Livestock Catches Fire on N1 Highway

A cattle truck transporting livestock caught fire on the N1 highway near Lockvaal, resulting in a tragic emergency case that the SPCA had to respond to.

According to SPCA, the incident caused the deaths of 16 cows who had sustained severe burn wounds in the blaze do they had to be put down.

SPCA inspectors who arrived on the scene were faced with an incredibly difficult and heart-breaking situation.

The smell of burning flesh and smoke filled the air, along with the distressing sound of cattle bellowing in agony.

Despite the tragic outcome, there was some relief in the fact that a significant number of cows were able to escape from the burning truck and were found standing by the highway.

With the help of the transporting company and bystanders, the team of brave female inspectors were able to get the cattle into a group and herd them to a place of safety.

The SPCA released a statement acknowledging the distressing nature of the event and the difficult work that their inspectors do on a daily basis.

It was a situation that served as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring proper safety measures are in place when transporting livestock.
