Suspected Robber Shot by Trucker in Wolmaransstad Failed Truck Hijacking FB IMG 1691772148940

A man was allegedly shot by a truck driver on Thursday night after allegedly attempting to rob him in Wolmaransstad.

The incident happened on August 10, 2023, at approximately 9:52 PM.

TAC-Pulse ERS Paramedics swiftly responded to a distress call regarding a shooting incident near the KFC establishment, situated at the intersection of Broadbent and Kruger Street in Wolmaransstad.

Upon their prompt arrival, TAC-Pulse ERS Advanced Life Support Paramedics discovered an injured male victim with multiple gunshot wounds, rendering him in a critical condition.

Paramedics immediately provided on-scene care, employing their advanced life support expertise, before transferring the wounded patient to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.

Reportedly, a group of robbers attempted to hijack or rob a parked truck positioned at the intersection of Broadbent and Kruger Street.

The driver of the truck purportedly wielded a firearm and fired a cautionary shot.

However, this initial warning seemed ineffective in deterring the gang’s actions.

Subsequently, the truck driver fired additional rounds, striking one of the robbers three times.

SAPS have called for more information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
