Tanker trucker found tied up in his truck on N2, all the diesel gone

A tanker truck driver was found tied up in his truck on the N2 south in Durban after he was hijacked earlier on the same day.

Private security company PT Tactical Unit reported that the driver stopped at a garage to buy something to eat. It’s alleged that hijackers pounced on him at that garage and drove off with him.

“According to tracker records, the truck, a white Actros Mercedes Truck fully loaded with diesel, lost the tracking signal at that garage around 09h30 on Saturday,” PT Tactical Unit reported.

“That was the last time there was any contact with the truck driver.”

The driver was on his way from Peacevale to Richards bay to deliver the diesel.

When the tracker company managed to reconnect the signal, the truck was located south of Durban on the N2 just before Lamontville, in the direction of Umlazi.

Tracking teams were mobilized and within minutes the truck was recovered, idling on the side of the road.

The security personnel found out that all the fuel was stolen. The driver was found tied up inside the truck with injuries to his face and head.

He was stabilized and transported to a local hospital by PT Ambulance services.
