The N1 highway is closed just outside Musina after the Sasol Garage following a fatal accident involving an articulated truck and a sedan this Sunday morning.
The incident involved an International truck, a Toyota sedan, and another unidentified vehicle.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety issued a statement, notifying the public of the road closure and providing alternative routes for commuters.
If travelling from Makhado to Musina, authorities advise using the R525 as an alternative, and for those travelling from Musina to Makhado, it is recommended to take the R508.
All travellers are urged to exercise extreme caution while using these alternative routes.
According to preliminary reports, the accident was triggered by a brake failure on the International truck, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and subsequently blocking the road.
Tragically, a Toyota sedan, unaware of the road obstruction, collided with the stationary truck.
The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the loss of one life, and leaving two others with serious injuries.
