Truck Driver Critically Injured In Two Truck Sasolburg Accident

A man, believed to be in his 50s, was left critically injured this afternoon when his truck crashed into another, causing his truck to crash partially down an embankment on the R59 over the N1 highway near Sasolburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find one truck partially in the road, the front of the truck hanging down the embankment.

The second truck had come to a stop a short distance away.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man lying trapped inside the truck.

Rescue services had to use specialized rescue equipment to free the man from the vehicle.

Once the man had been freed, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained injuries to his legs and pelvis and was in a critical condition.

He was treated for his injuries and provided with several advanced life support interventions before being airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a private hospital in Johannesburg.

The driver of the second truck escaped injury.

The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
