Watch: Shops looted and burned down during Witbank protest

The N4 highway continues to be blocked by protesters in Witbank, Mpumalanga. The eMalahleni community started protesting in the early hours of Monday morning blocking the national route ever since.

Videos have surfaced online of buildings on fire. Ackermans and Pick n Pay are reportedly the worst affected by the fire that ravaged a complex in Emalahleni.

It is believed the incident was an act of arson and criminality during the protests as the shops were looted before being set on fire.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as the N4 near Vosman remains closed due to the ongoing strike.
