*Updated – Side tipper truck accidents have dominated headlines on SA Trucker for a while now as many of them crash due to various reasons. Reckless driving has been one of them as seen in the infamous Pongola truck crash which saw 20 people die including 18 primary school children.
The truck driver allegedly overtook on barrier lines while running away from the traffic police having been blocking the road.
In this video, this truck overtook in misty conditions only to realise in the manoeuvre that another truck was approaching. The two trucks collided head-on. SA Trucker could not immediately get information on casualties.
Side tipper truck crashes have been the subject of heated debate as they seem to happen often. After being banned on the N2 Pongola route these trucks moved to the R34/R66 and they didn’t stop crashing.
Communities living along the highway ended up protesting against the new visitors as they continuously caused crashes on the road which has been somewhat quiet before.
