Two trucks with cloned number plates have been caught trying to steal chrome from Samancor TC Smelters in Mooinooi.
According to a source, the two trucks successfully entered the mine using cloned registration plates from other trucks.
“An alert despatch clerk noticed the anomally and notified authorities,” said the source.
Images of one of the trucks show that a GP registration plate was stuck on top of an MP registration plate.
SA Trucker reached out to Samancor TC Smelters for a comment but could not get a response at the time of publishing.
