Seven people were killed on the N4 near Middelburg in Mpumalanga on Friday night around 23h00 in a crash involving a minibus taxi and an articulated truck.
Police say 9 others were injured in the crash which happened last night.
Six of them were seriously injured, and three more people escaped with slight injuries.
The deceased includes six passengers and a taxi driver.

It is alleged that the crash happened when the taxi seemingly lost control and overturned, ramming into the truck.
The taxi was reportedly pulling a trailer, and it was travelling from Johannesburg to Mozambique.
The truck driver was not injured in the crash.
