Man reveals how some garages are robbing unsuspecting motorists

A video of a man charged for 5 litres of petrol but got about 4,5 litres at an Engen garage has gone viral online.

South African motorists are having to deal with very high prices of fuel and learning that you could have been paying for more litres than you were getting would be devastating.

As if that’s not enough, Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe recently revealed that some garages are selling diesel mixed with paraffin.

In the 2 minute 38 second video, the fuel pump shows that it filled up 5 litres for R120,85 at R24,17 but the container in which the purported 5 litres was filled shows only 4,5 litres were filled.

The man asks the pump attendant to explain but he is short of words.

His supervisor also comes but cannot explain how the meter read incorrectly.

The man then asks the supervisor to tell his bosses of the discrepancy.

“Petrol is expensive and we can’t also be robbed like this,” the man can be heard complaining.
