Bulk Connections Moves Truck Processing Area From Old Airport to Hammersdale

Keystone Industrial Park in Hammersdale will be the new truck processing area for Bulk Connections starting from 1 March 2022, the Bidvest Group subsidiary announced on Friday.

Bulk Connections Commercial Director, Unathi Mapoma told customers that 28 February 2022 will be the last day trucks will use the Durban Old Airport staging area before moving the next day to Keystone Industrial Park.

In an effort to manage traffic congestion on Bayhead Road and to create fluidity of roads towards the Port of Durban entrances, Bulk Connections has been temporarily making use of Old Airport as a truck processing area for road trucks.

“Bulk Connections has since leased a new truck processing area at the Keystone Industrial Park in Hammersdale which will be used by all Bidvest Freight companies for a period of one year,”

“Bidvest Freight continues to look for a permanent solution by acquiring a land of its own,” Mapoma said.

The leased site is off the N3 which is convenient and does not take the road trucks off their route to Durban as opposed to the Old Airport which is situated outside of the city.

All road trucks meant for Bulk Connections for offloading, will be required to start at the Hammersdale truck processing site to get clearance and a permit board which must be displayed on the windscreen of each truck.

This will be used to permit all trucks to be on Bayhead Road at the right time and access the Bulk Connections site. No truck will be permitted to enter Bulk Connections premises
without a clearance slip and the permit board displayed on the windscreen.

Mapoma warned that any truck that by-passes
the Hammersdale truck processing area will be sent back to Hammersdale to obtain clearance.

Bulk Connections asked its customers to advise their truck drivers of the new truck processing area. No trucks will be permitted to enter Old Airport truck processing after the 28th of Feb 2022.
