bus driver suffers medical emergency

A bus driver from a popular long-distance bus company died after suffering cardiac on the N3 near Shongweni on Thursday evening.

While in pain, the bus driver managed to safely pull off from the N3 freeway, where he was enroute to Johannesburg from Durban, and he died.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said they received a frantic call from a passenger asking for urgent assistance after noticing the driver struggling.

“The caller said the driver appeared to be suffering a medical emergency and had pulled the vehicle to the side of the road.

“The caller sent his GPS location and advanced life support paramedics were immediately dispatched.

“The man was found to have suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead by paramedics.”
