Mabuza calls for imbizo with trucking industry over recent truck carnage

Deputy President David Mabuza has expressed concern over the recent truck carnage in the country.

He’s calling for an imbizo with the trucking industry to discuss challenges faced by the drivers and to find solutions to improve safety.

20 people lost their lives last week in Pongola, north of KwaZulu-Natal, after a side tipper truck collided with a bakkie transporting school children.

Yesterday another collision involving four side tipper trucks occurred on R34/R66 near Ulundi. No fatalities were reported.

Moments later, another side tipper truck Update: No fatalities in R66 fiery truck crashcrashed into other vehicles not far from the other accident scene.

Mabuza is calling on all road users to exercise caution and patience on the road.
