Road carnage on the construction zone in the vicinity of Peter Brown Avenue on the N3 have claimed several lives and left many people injured.

Driver behaviour has been the biggest cause of these crashes as truck drivers fail to obey compulsory stop signs which are mearnt to neutralise their momentum before proceeding downhill.

When the drivers fail to stop they are then forced to use brakes to reduce or maintain normal speeds ending up using the brakes excessively.

The whole truck braking system becomes ineffective if it’s used excessively thereby rendering the truck unstoppable.

SA Trucker urges truckers to obey the speed limits and all the road sign in construction zones to ensure the safety of other motorists, construction workers and themselves.
