One killed in M2 pile up crash

One person was killed and another seriously injured after several cars and a truck collided in a pile up crash in Joburg.

Emer-G-Med responded to the multi-vehicle pile-up on the M2 West close to the Denver Road exit, in Benrose – central Johannesburg.

On arrival paramedics found that a truck, which had been travelling eastbound, had lost control and veered through the centre median. It then collided with four light motor vehicles which were travelling westbound.

Paramedics assessed the scene and found that one person had sustained fatal injuries – the patient was declared dead on the scene.

A second patient sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment.

JMPD’s specialist Accident Reconstruction Unit were at the scene, amongst other traffic authorities, to launch a full investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
