A truck and a light motor vehicle collided head between Vaal River and Vaalpark on R59 during the early hours of this morning.
The driver of the light motor vehicle succumbed to his injuries on scene.
Shortly before 1am paramedics from ER24 Vereeniging arrived on the scene where they found the truck and the light motor vehicle scattered across the scene. The driver of the light motor vehicle was found with fatal injuries. Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
Two occupants from the truck were found with moderate injuries. It is understood that they climbed out of the vehicle shortly after the collision.
Both were treated for multiple scrapes and bruises before being transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni.
The exact cause for the collision is not yet known.
