Mpumalanga police are searching for six suspects who allegedly robbed a truck driver on Friday night at Vosman near Witbank.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, the driver was travelling alone near Transalloys when the truck had a mechanical failure.

Upon stopping the truck to check on the problem, the driver was aggressively approached by six armed men who emerged from a bush nearby.

The men pointed him with firearms and instructed him to open the truck door and in the process, severely assaulted him before tying him with shoelaces.

Brigadier Hlathi said that the suspects forcefully took the man’s belongings, including the truck keys as well as diesel.

They further took twenty-three (23) tyres to the value of approximately R150000-00 and fled the scene.

Police were notified about the incident and attended to the matter, immediately opening a case of car hijacking as well as launching a manhunt for the suspects.

The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
