A South African trucker has been arrested at Beitbridge border post after he was caught smuggling Broncleer cough syrup into Zimbabwe on Tuesday afternoon.
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) and the country’s police officials searched the truck and found 250 boxes of Broncleer cough syrup stashed in between some one-tonne bags on the trailer.
The driver was immediately arrested and the cough syrup seized.

While Broncleer is not an illegal substance, it is often smuggled into the neighbouring country where it’s sold on the black market to drug addicts who take an overdose to get high.
