Six people killed in bus and truck head-on collision on N8 near Botshabelo

Six people have been killed in a head-on collision involving a bus and a truck on the notorious N8 stretch near Botshabelo on Thursday morning.

Free State Emergency Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, says they are currently on the crash scene to rescue survivors.

Free State Police, Roads and Transport spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, says the collision happened following an alleged attempt by the truck to overtake.

Meanwhile, Interstate Bus Lines have released a media statement following the fatal bus crash,

10 November 2022 at around 06h50 Interstate Bus Lines has been made aware of a major bus accident on the N8 near Bloemfontein that involved one of our buses en route to the Bloemfontein and a third party vehicle. An investigation has been launched to get more information.
