Teen Allegedly Murdered Limpopo Elderly Man in Apparent Gang Challenge

Elderly Limpopo businessman, Hannes van Dyk (59) was allegedly murdered in a deadly gang challenge called ‘drop a toppie game’ which means (drop an elderly man).

This is according to a News24 report. The publication’s source said the gang is made up of men in their late teens and early twenties.

19-year-old Eugene Mulder has since been arrested for the murder and has appeared in court.

Hannes’ murder has shocked the Limpopo community.

According to reports, van Dyk was randomly chosen by a gang to be the target in the dangerous drop a toppie game.

The gang allegedly targets older men and assault them for no apparent reason.

Hannes van Dyk’ murder took place at the Royal Bliss Bar in the early hours of March 11, and when police arrived, they found van Dyk bleeding on the ground.

He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Police are still investigating claims of previous attacks by the gang.

Mulder is expected back in court on Thursday.

It is unclear whether more arrests are expected.
