Tow truck protest causes major traffic delays around Gauteng

Protesting tow truck operators and drivers have massively disrupted traffic on major highways around Gauteng with reports of standstill or slow traffic on the N1 at Midrand, N1 south between Pretoria and Samrand, N1 between Marlboro and Malibongwe drive.

The South African Towing Repair Transformation Board (SATRTB) embarked on a drive slow around 08h00 on Wednesday morning.

The tow truckers were authorised to have a march and hand over memorandums to AA South Africa CEO Willem Groenewald and Hollard Head Office Mr. Marvin Tshezwi on the 29 June 2022 between the hours of 09h00 to 13h00 from Samrand Onramp.

Traffic is expected to be heavily disrupted on the affected routes until the strike ends. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
