Truckers and motorists are warned of a possible protest action that could disrupt traffic between Mananga/N4 junction near Komatipoort and the Lebombo border post.

This after the communities residing near the Lebombo border with Mozambique announced their intention to conduct a peaceful protest march today Wednesday, 18, October 2023.

It could not be immediately established why the communities will be protesting.

The demonstration is scheduled to take place from 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

In a statement issued by Malelane and Komatipoort Community Policing Forums (CPF), the organizers of the protest have assured that they will work diligently to maintain order and minimize disruptions.

“Light vehicle traffic from South Africa into Mozambique is anticipated to face minimal disruptions,” read the statement.

Special arrangements have been arranged to ensure the smooth flow of heavy vehicle traffic.

However, it is expected that traffic into South Africa may encounter some interruptions during the protest.

The protest is expected to commence at 08:00 AM and conclude by 12:00 PM.

“For those planning to travel in the vicinity, it is advised to avoid the Lebombo border post during these hours to help alleviate potential congestion and any associated risks associated with the march,” Malelane and Komatipoort CPFs said.

Law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) and traffic management authorities, will be present to monitor and ensure the safety of all participants and motorists.
