A trucking company in Clairwood is appealing to the public for assistance after a brazen theft took place at their premises late last night.
The incident, captured on CCTV, shows three individuals making off with a trailer and a freight container in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 3rd, 2024.
The stolen trailer, with registration number NUR73470, was loaded with a 12-metre container marked CCLU7785469.
The container, according to the company’s owner, was filled with imported clothing.
The surveillance footage, shared by the affected company, reveals a white Volvo truck pulling the trailer and container out of the yard around 03:30 in the morning.
Three suspects are seen accompanying the truck, with two disappearing from view to the left while one closes the gate behind them.
It appears the thieves had a well-orchestrated plan, as the truck does not stop after leaving the premises, indicating a getaway vehicle waiting nearby.
In response to the theft, the company has announced a reward of R15,000 for any information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen trailer and its contents.
The value of the cargo has not been disclosed.
